MECON Insurance Ltd (MECON NZ) a specialist underwriting agency dedicated to the construction and mobile plant industries.
Mecon NZ partners with insurance brokers to offer tailored solutions (via our suite of endorsements) for a wide range of clients and industries. With our experience, technical knowledge and commitment to service, you have a trusted business partner who responds quickly and efficiently – helping you get more clients properly insured.
MECON NZ is not your typical underwriting agency. The people managing MECON NZ make most of the underwriting decisions. We have designed our own policy wordings and administration systems to suit our products. Furthermore, MECON has its own in-house claims professionals with very high settling authorities.
Our policy wordings have been designed to cater for simple domestic work through to complex heavy industrial and civil projects and/or the various trades involved in such projects. Policies can be based upon:
- Annual Turnover; or
- Run-off; or
- Individual Declaration (Pay as you go).

Absolutely. We start with a comprehensive, basic policy. Then depending upon the particular risk insured, the policy can be extended to insure a range of risks.
